Sound Level Mapping Based on GIS at Area of Universitas Gadjah Mada
Yogyakarta as a city of education becomes one of the destination for young people who want to pursue a university level degree. Their arrival increased the number of Yogyakarta’s population. In Indonesia, the increment of population is followed by the increment of vehicles. Meanwhile, the result of having a lot of amount of vehicles is not followed by the streets capacities and therefore causes traffic jam. Traffic jam creates a high noise level which is produced from vehicle engine, horn and muffler. This noisiness might distract some learning activities and create inconvenient education environment.
The aim of this research is to map sound level of educational areas with the case study of Universitas Gadjah Mada. Data are collected within the area of Universitas Gadjah Mada especially areas that intersect with public spaces like hospital, shopping center, worship place, food court and main road. Each area will consist of several measuring points. The sound level data is produced by using signal processing software which is Adobe Audition CS6 and mapped with a software named Surfer 11.0 and create sound level mapping for each area.
